Behind Mortumi is Anni – an entrepreneur based in the Helsinki metropolitan area in Finland. She has been an entrepreneur in the beauty industry for over a decade, while also working part-time in the graphic design and creative field.
Art, however, has been part of her life for much longer. Drawing and illustration have always been a part of the journey, sometimes simply as a hobby, sometimes as a thought of whether her art could become something more.
Mortumi was born from the desire to bring art into everyday life. Not just onto the pages of a sketchbook, but onto objects and products that can be used every day – pieces where personality and an appreciation for slightly darker aesthetics can shine through.
Mortumi’s illustrations are hand-drawn by Anni and created digitally. No AI is used in the process. Every line, detail and atmosphere comes from a human hand and imagination.
The style is built around darker themes, strong contrasts and black-and-white imagery. But the world of Mortumi isn’t always completely without colour, sometimes an occasional single colour may find its way into a collection whenever it feels right.
